What is a Certified Real Estate Support Specialist?
A Certified Real Estate Support Specialist is a Virtual Assistant that has been certified by the International Virtual Assistant Association to be both knowledgeable and ethical in their support of Real Estate Agents.
Laws and Conduct of Business:
- A RESS shall abide by all laws, rules, regulations, certification and licensing requirements applicable to his or her profession. All business or professional practices shall be in strict accordance with all applicable laws, rules, professional standards, and regulations governing their profession as well as the profession of their clients.
- It is incumbent upon all Real Estate Support Specialists to provide their services in a manner that instills a strong sense of trust and confidence between themselves and their real estate clients. Professional competence, character, integrity, fairness, commitment, and trustfulness provide the foundation for the establishing and maintaining of all professional relationships.
- Full Disclosure: Full disclosure of all pertinent information requires, without reservation, disclosure to the client all relevant information a RESS possess with regard to their hiring.
A RESS is expected to disclose to clients and prospective clients information regarding:
- Conflicts of interest (including, but not limited to, personal, financial, and commitments to other clients)
- Lack of competence and/or experience
- Pertinent information regarding scheduling and use of outside contractors to complete work
- Independent contractor status
Privacy and Confidentiality: A RESS will at all times exercise loyalty to the interests of the client with respect to confidential information and shall not engage in any activity which could be reasonably construed as contrary to the best interests of the client.
A RESS shall not use confidential information for personal purposes or personal gain and shall hold in strict confidence all information acquired in the course of the professional relationship concerning the business and affairs of the client, and not divulge any information unless he/she) is expressly authorized by the client or as required to do so by law.
